Subaru Rally Team USA driver Travis Pastrana had victory snatched shockingly away from him in the final moments of the SnoDrift Rally, Round 1 of the 2008 Rally America National Championship, when a deer collided into his Subaru Impreza WRX STI rally car.

Pastrana, the 2006 and 2007 Rally America National Champion was leading the event comfortably with just eleven stage miles remaining when the rally-ending collision occurred. His rally car sustained heavy engine damage and was unable to continue, though both Pastrana and his co-driver Christian Edstrom were uninjured.

This is our first training session for our next big stunt, the ghost ride donut.

All of these terms refer to that old, dilapidated, and neglected automobile sitting in someone’s yard leaving oil puddles on the ground. It may or may not run. The body is dented and rusty with holes filled with Bondo. The interior might be lacking in comfort and it wouldn’t be unusual to find some critter’s nest in the glovebox. These cars have history. They have stories to tell. Although their appearance may say otherwise, they have owners who love them.

Nor will you see any expensive, exotic imports. What you will find is a group of gearheads who like to drive and race their old cars.
